The header almost says it all: TYPO3 core developer Dmitry Dulepov has just published the Thunderbird add-on "Thread Views" which enhances usability when reading newsgroup threads.
The Thunderbird add-on "Thread Views" by Dmitry Dulepov enhances usability when reading newsgroup threads. The add-on allows you to comfortably switch a threaded view between all and unread only. It provides some kind of a shortcut buttons, which help you to save some time.

You can hide all threads which do not have any unread postings:
